Hotlanta... The birthplace of crunk was the latest city to host a Secret Show, and who better to rock the ATL than hometown hero Yung Joc. Not only is the College Park native one of the hottest rappers to come from Georgia, not only is he the current 1 major label artist on MySpace, but he had no trouble drawing a crowd 300 thick – despite the fact that the show was only announced ten hours before the doors opened.
As soon as they walked through the door of the club, Hitmen DJ J-Nice had them all glued to the dance floor a steady stream of bangin’ beats. Without warning, Block Entertainment (and fellow ATL natives) Zoe and Boyz N Da Hood took to the stage as a surprise opening act.. Then came the man of the hour. Yung Joc jumped on stage and immediately commandeered the attention of everyone in the club, aided by the ninja-level skills of DJ Blak. From H-Town's "Knockin the Boots" to Notorious B.I.G.'s "One More Chance" and everything in between, the audience went wild.
In the middle of a set of songs from his new album, "New Joc City," Yung Joc dramatically yelled into the crowd, "Grab your cell phones, and be quick!" At warp speed he spat his personal cell number into the mic. The first person to memorize it and hit him up was brought on stage to dance, with obvious delight. The highlight reel also included Ms. B joining him on stage for "I Know You See It" and bringing the show to a close with the massive Billboard hit, "It's Goin Down." 300 people simultaneously performed the "motorcycle dance" that he performed with Bad Boy Records label owner, Diddy a few weeks back on the BET Awards.
Yung Joc ended his hour-long set by calling everyone on stage to sign a poster for him. Some of the fans had traveled from as far away as Pittsburgh and as early as 9am to see the show, and they did not leave disappointed. Joc took the time afterwards to sign as many posters and take as many pictures he could. "Everybody loves me, cause I'm so fly," he confidently recited, and by seeing his genuine appreciation for his fans, we see why.
