Secret Shows said hello to Kansas City for the very first time last week with a free and exclusive performance by none other than the always amazing Sparta. The alt-rock heroes were supported by KC’s own and much-loved Vedera, who kicked off 400 MySpacers’ night with a rousing set of tracks from their debut album, The Weight of an Empty Room. Vedera are currently on tour nationwide, so you must check out their MySpace profile and see when they’ll be playing near you.
Next up was Tooth & Nail Records’ Me Without You, who concluded their US tour with this special Kansas City Secret Show. The band kept their MySpace crowd moving with an emotional set full of raw energy, playing new hits "Nice and Blue Pt Two” and "Brother, Sister," as well as a host of fan-favorite oldies.
Following such impressive sets from Vedera and Me Without You, fans were ready to burst when Sparta finally took the stage. A band whose every record is better than the last, Sparta is also famous for the intensity of their live performances – a rep that’s well deserved if Secret Shows has anything to say about it. The MySpace crowd rocked out to tracks from Sparta’s first two albums and sang along to “Taking Back Control,” ‘Unsitch Your Mouth” and other new songs from Sparta’s latest and possibly greatest full-length, Threes, out now on Hollywood Records.
