This past Tuesday in Tempe was a night all about... well, free stuff. Let us count the ways, shall we? Earlier in the day, the punk rock veterans in Pennywise released their brand new album, Reason To Believe, for free through the website you are currently staring at. Then, to celebrate this momentous event, they decided to throw a free Secret Show at the legendary Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona. Then, if all of this weren't enough, they handed out free silk-screened posters to fans at the end of the night.

Hell, the only thing that wasn't free in Tempe were the accidental elbows a couple fans received in the mosh pit. (Actually, those were free, too, because, hey, it was that kind of night.) Things kicked off early with the So Cal pop-punk troop The Darlings, who played a handful of new gems, as well as an Operation Ivy cover for good measure. And while the crowd seemed to be digging their set well enough, it was clear who the six hundred fans inside had showed up to see.

Taking the stage to rowdy cheers, the men of Pennywise immediately got the crowd going by playing a handful of songs off of Reason To Believe, including the standout tracks "The Western World" and "Something To Live For." As their set continued, fan favorites like "Fuck Authority" were shouted along to until, in typical Pennywise fashion, the band closed things out with "Bro Hymn," one of the most memorable punk rock anthems ever.

It's rare to see a show as intense this one was—much less for free—and it wouldn't have happened without the help of a handful of people. So thanks must go out to The Darlings, Pennywise, MySpace Records and the staff at The Clubhouse. You guys rule.
